Photos by Travis Neely GCU News Bureau “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” is a feel-good, family-friendly musical about the beloved comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz. Audiences of all ages will enjoy watching those oh-so-familiar characters singing, dancing and making sophisticated jokes. Charlie Brown’s friends endure amusing mishaps and chaos, and that helps him discover what truly makes them happy. The musical opens 7:30 p.m. today at Ethington Theatre, but the first show is sold out and other shows are selling fast. Tickets can be purchased here or at Groupon. Students get in free with ID.  Other performances are 7:30 p.m. Saturday,  2 p.m. Sunday, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25, and 2 p.m. Sunday,  Nov. 26.

Photos by Travis Neely GCU News Bureau  The Students Inspiring Students initiative at Grand Canyon University celebrated the first of 100 full-ride scholarship recipients Tuesday night at a special ceremony. At its core, the scholarship program is about students helping students and the impact it can have at inner-city schools in Arizona. The 25 students all received academic assistance while in high school at GCU’s Learning Lounge, a free after-school tutoring program designed to improve the skills and confidence of both under-performing students and those taking advanced-level classes.

They renovated several west Phoenix neighborhood homes as part of a partnership between GCU and Habitat for Humanity. The goal is to renovate 700 houses, with 131 homes and 289 repairs now completed.
