Dr. James Helfers, a longtime fan of author J.R.R. Tolkien, wasn’t sold right away on the merits of Lewis, Tolkien’s rival. But now he is a Lewis scholar and part of the Arizona C.S. Lewis Society.

GCU students have heard about hunger and poverty, and some have experienced it. An event on campus on Thursday is about to bring them face-to-face with these critical global issues.

Professors began promoting the night sessions to students during classes, dubbing the free tutoring “Pi It Forward.” Sessions are held Monday through Wednesday from 4:30 to 9 p.m. in CAS and Fleming classrooms.
