Meet the Cooke Health Center’s New Director

By Connie Colbert

I am excited about being the new director of the Cooke Health and Wellness Center here at Grand Canyon University.

My vision for the health center is to create a culture of health and wellness throughout the GCU community. I see this being accomplished by offering services that will improve the health and overall well-being of the students’ and employees’ lives through education and activities that will support positive lifestyle changes.

Outside of GCU, I am the co-pastor of Church for the Nations Glendale campus and I have two beautiful daughters, ages 17 and 10. I am also very proud to be a GCU alumna. I graduated in 2008 with my master’s degree in nursing (family nurse practitioner) and fell in love with the overall mission and vision of GCU while attending.

The Cooke Health and Wellness Center is located in the Student Union. Our hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday. We offer services for students and employees that include diagnosing and treating illness, immunizations, primary wound care, sports or school physicals, blood pressure screening, wellness promotion, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, referral to specialists, well-women exams and counseling referrals.

We recommend making an appointment, but we also take walk-ins. You can reach the health center at 639.6215. Looking forward to meeting you!

Bible Verse

Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through Him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! (Romans 5:9-10)
