Students’ TEDx production gets a standing ovation

Talk about a learning experience with many benefits. The students who managed TEDxGrandCanyonUniversity 2018 from start to finish didn’t just make a lot of memories, they put on a show that earned them a standing ovation Friday night at Ethington Theatre. “I could not be more impressed with the quality of job that the students did — absolutely top-notch and professional,” said Brett Pyle, one of the speakers at the event.

Code Red: GCU powers up cybersecurity focus

GCU wants to become a major player in cybersecurity education and is doing just that, having formed a partnership with the Arizona Cyber Threat Response Alliance, adding an online master’s degree program in cybersecurity and recently becoming the site of the new Arizona Cyber Warfare Range-Metro Phoenix. That new cybersecurity focus falls in line with the University’s push to advance science, technology, engineering and math education.

Reaching out with 3D-printed bandage, prosthetic

When a team of undergraduate biotechnology researchers in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology heard about the high number of amputees in Rwanda, they wondered if they could improve on the design of those prosthetics so are working on creating a low-cost, 3D-printed arm. They also are using 3D printing technology to create a bandage to treat wound infections that might prevent those amputations.
