With this latest round of severe winter storms, the American Red Cross has been unable to collect blood in many parts of the country. This has forced the cancellation of more than 750 blood drives and more than 28,000 blood scheduled blood donations since January 1. As a result, in this period blood collections are the lowest the Red Cross has seen in a decade.

The Office of Campus Life tapped a Grand Canyon alum to fill the new position of intramural and recreation director. Kris Hayes has served across campus, both as a student and staff member. “When students buy into something, they provide the strongest case for why we should invest in what they want on campus,” Hayes says. “Students have a voice on campus. What they are into is what will happen.”

Chinese New Year is celebrated with lots of food, games, music and picking of the Hóng Bāo or red envelope with a lucky coin. The International Student Club enjoyed all of the above and more during their February 7 celebration of the Chinese New Year.

After weeks of planning and campaigning, the results are finally in. Seventy-two percent of voters re-elected Anthony Mann as ASGCU President. Dozens of students crowded into the Hegel Hall lobby last night to hear the results of this year’s presidential election. There was an overwhelming sense of tension and anticipation in the room while they waited for John-Paul Reiger to announce the winner of the election,

Despite the cold weather, hundreds of students made the chilly walk from their dorms and apartments to pack the North Gym on Wednesday night for this year’s “Mr. GCU” competition. The show, presented by ASGCU and organized by activities director Mallory Freeman, went off without a hitch, with several students saying that it was the best competition they had seen.

The four candidates for the top offices in ASGCU squared off Monday night in an hourlong debate, sounding different themes but similar goals for student government at the University. Voting for president and vice president began today and continues through Thursday at the Student Union.

‘Lopes basketball racked up two victories yesterday with the Lady ‘Lopes defeated Chaminade with the largest winning percentage in school history (69 points) and the men defeated Chaminade to earn second place in the Pacific West Conference. None of this could prepare you for the halftime festivies – the GCU Dancing Deans.

The Associated Students of Grand Canyon University (ASGCU) hosted a photo scavenger hunt. No photo scavenger hunt is complete without poorly lit, out of focus photos…and hey, isn’t that Beiber?
