Creating a realistic financial budget and then sticking to it is a challenge for many people, but the Colangelo College of Business is here to help with Money Week. Presentations on Monday through Thursday will address every aspect of handling your money and also will feature visits by 36 companies Wednesday and a session with Jerry Colangelo on Thursday.

Colangelo School of Sports Business students get to hear presentations by lots of industry leaders, but Thursday was a special treat. Edward Erhardt, a top ESPN executive, shared interesting information about the cable television sports network and — most important for them — how to get a job there.

Passion and excitement overflowed Wednesday at GCU Arena as hundreds of educators, specialists and students from across the state gathered with one purpose: to better education. “There is such an extreme power in teaching every single day, and as teachers in the education profession we need to realize that power and take it up a notch. Teach up,” said Dr. Lisa Mayberry, GCU alum and adjunct faculty member and State Advisor for Educators Rising Arizona.

Harlem Globetrotter Buckets Blakes remembers practicing shots at Phoenix’s legendary Harmon Park basketball court, in the neighborhood where he grew up. The Phoenix native returned to his old stomping grounds to talk to students at Lowell Elementary about how to prevent bullying and will be at GCU Arena on Saturday with the legendary Globetrotters.

Grand Canyon University has a multitude of opportunities for students to explore Arizona, so it’s really not a surprise that it won the recent Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge. It was the first time the University entered the competition.

The visit was indicative of CCOB’s connection with Phoenix International Raceway and another example of what it teaches about networking.

Being happy and content can be tricky, Terry Crist of Hillsong Church Phoenix told Chapel on Monday. But true contentment doesn’t require sacrificing our ambitions, Crist said. The answer is simply to trust God.
