Game Changers in action!

Cedric Ceballos, opening keynote speaker,

Councilman Danny Venezuela and Dwight Amery.

T

he first Neighborhoods Connect Summit, held on Feb. 21, was

a resounding success! More than 200 stakeholders from across

Phoenix shared approaches that are working and suggested

roles for Neighborhoods Connect.

Mayor Stanton, Councilwoman Pastor, Councilman Valenzuela and

City Manager Zuercher were there to lend their support, adding to the

effort from all of the City departments that interact with neighborhoods.

The Maryvale Revitalization

Corporation’s Game

Changers Teen Leadership

Conference was held at

Grand Canyon University on

Feb. 7, 2015.

This marked the third year

of this growing event, with

more than 110 teens from

over 40 local schools in

attendance. The all-day

conference featured keynote

speakers Cedric Ceballos and Ariel Arismendez, a GCU student and USA Olympian.

Breakout sessions featured topics such as entrepreneurism, academics of

success, marijuana awareness (taught by a 12 year old), financial planning

and motivation and leadership.

Game Changers is part two of a four-part leadership training. A follow-up

dinner with business leaders will take place in March; in April, over 400

Chase Bank employees will join conference attendees at Global Youth Service

Day, a service project that includes cleaning up, painting and landscaping

projects at three Phoenix parks.
