W
hat an exciting year this has been for all of us here in the Canyon Corridor! Hard
to believe fall semester is almost over and the holidays are just around the curve!
Amazing. So much has transpired over this past year. Exploding growth. Tremendous
transition. Passionate teamwork. All important – as our love for community grows stronger
every year!
We continue to serve as we transform our community by creating
a stronger sense of belonging and care for our neighbors as we
develop safe and attractive neighborhoods in which to live, work
and play. Together we touch lives by building awareness and
understanding of what it means to really … love our community.
OUR goal continues to be to build a vibrant community that blends
into the larger and surrounding community where our youth can
not only learn a profession – but dare to dream and discover a plan
for their lives that will change … our world. We do. They will.
And then … some things never change. We continue to be in
the people business – making memories, restoring hope, building community, unleashing
dreams and supporting our PEOPLE – that’s YOU! We are indeed blessed, by YOUR service,
passion and love for your community – your Canyon Corridor! And we look forward to
serving with YOU in 2017 – just imagine the possibilities!
Loving OUR Community:
Our Youth. Our Schools. Our Future.

YOUASKED—WE LISTENED
City Leadership – Public Safety: How does Phoenix Fire fit into our Canyon Corridor?
AA
The Canyon Corridor Connection Magazine continues to be dedicated and focused on our
youth; however, we enjoy providing resources and insight into our special city services that
give up their lives every day to keep us all safe and secure. See our four special interviews
highlighting two of our top fire fighters and two of our top police officers. See pages 4-11 and
25 where we have added all our Canyon Corridor Fire Stations.
Education and tutoring: How do I get tutoring help for my kids who attend school in the Canyon Corridor?
AA
See page 18 – for 5-on-5 with Dr. Joe Veres and the GCU Learning Lounge opportunities
available for Canyon Corridor kids every weekend during the school year. See page 15, 22-23,
35
Canyon Corridor Business Alliance and VIP: What is this about a new Business Alliance I am hearing about? I own
a business on 27th Ave and we certainly need support to survive – how are they connecting with the businesses?
What opportunities are available to help support those of us that are here and bring in new businesses? And what
is VIP?
AA
See page 26 for information about NOBA – the new North Ocotillo Business Alliance who are
in the process of incorporating and have already begun working with NSD to connect with all
our Canyon Corridor business on 27th Avenue.
Neighborhood Involvement: How do I organize a Neighborhood Clean-up in my Neighborhood? I work a full-time job
but I could certainly do this on the weekend, couldn’t I? Are there any resources available to help us do that?
AA
See page 30 for a simple step-by-step process on how to organize YOUR own neighborhood
clean-up and what resources are already available to help you and see page 42 - Phoenix
Revitalization Corporation with even more additional resources and funding that might be
available for you to apply for via phone and/or web.
Neighborhood Scholarships: Are you kidding? I’ve been hearing about “Neighborhood Scholarships?” What is this
and how can I get information about howwe as a family can help our kids attend college?
AA
It is true! See page 22-23, 18 and 35 and read about Inspiration x100 Full Ride Scholarships
Earned by Canyon Corridor Youth and how Canyon Corridor students who inspire students
can earn a full-ride scholarship to GCU.
