His playing career:
It seems
as if he was with the Suns
forever, but Majerle played
only a little more than half his
career in Phoenix. He also spent
five seasons with Miami and one
with Cleveland.
2
His favorite sport:
Basketball? Nope.
“Baseball is my first love.
It’s always been.”
3
His basketball viewing
habits:
“I’m so engrossed
in what college teams
are doing or how they’re being
successful and what they’re
running, I’d rather watch that
instead of the NBA.” His favorite
channel? ESPN, of course.
4
His kids:
Madison is a
junior at the University
of Santa Clara,
McKenzie is a high school senior
and world-traveling tennis
player, Mia is a freshman
volleyball player at Chaparral
High School in Scottsdale
andMax, a middle schooler,
plays basketball (of course)
and baseball.
5
His cooking
prowess:
He’s
not shy about
his ability to handle a
barbecue. His go-tos?
Steaks and spareribs.
6
His favorite music:
“I like it all. Probably
right nowmy favorite
is Kid Rock, but, having kids,
you listen to everything.”
7
His favorite movies:
“A Few Good Men” and
“Wedding Crashers.”
“I’ve probably seen ‘A Few Good
Men’ a hundred times.” This is a
guy who can handle the truth.
8
His reason for
starting the Majerle’s
restaurant chain:
He
just wanted a place to go with
teammates after a game. “I didn’t
look at it as an investment. I
probably thought it was going to
lose money.”
9
His golf game:
He
learned by doing — and
by playing with good
players. Funny how athletes can
do that. “I’m a scratch, but don’t
play to it right now because I
don’t play a lot.”
