Education faculty’s videos are a hit with students

GCU College of Education students are learning a lot these days. “Wow, this is what my professor does outside of class?” asked Emily Sharp, a COE student worker who helps assemble video clips for a faculty and staff Instagram story feed. One story recently showed a professor getting on his bicycle, another at poolside. It’s all part of an expanded social media effort in COE to put a face to education.

Faculty chair looks to make teaching changes click

Dr. Alicia Kozimor has had a big summer. She was named faculty chair in the College of Education and in late July earned her doctorate. It comes at an interesting time for future educators whom COE is training, and Kozimor is asking them this question: “How are you going to change education, especially at this time when everything is changing? How are you going to make the profession better?”

New psychology chair calls for empathy, not upset

Dr. Julia Langdal-Sittu was named the new psychology department chair at GCU at any interesting time to study human behavior, considering the challenges of the past year. As such, she hopes to emphasize empathy and lead her department to more volunteer opportunities. “That is the cornerstone of our field — understanding, empathy and compassion for the people we work with. And that means we look at everyone and try to understand where they are coming from as people,” she said.
