Speaker shows students diverse paths to law school

It was perfect timing for senior Alani Perkins. The senior is taking the Law School Admission Test this weekend that could get her into law school, and the organization that makes the test, the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC), was on campus Tuesday with a presentation full of tips. But LSAC’s Angela Winfield came to GCU to primarily talk about increasing diversity in law schools; she is Black, blind and made it big in the legal profession. “Seeing her reminds me I can do anything I put my mind to,” Perkins said.

Project L: Welcome Week’s love letter to diversity

Hundreds of students descended on the Grove lawn Wednesday night for Project L, the Diversity and Inclusion Department’s Welcome Week icebreaker, which featured not only free barbecue but games, live entertainment, student vendors and a bubble machine. But the high-energy event, filled with students ready to return to full social calendars, also was designed to connect students to the department and the campus’ various multicultural and diversity groups.

GCU’s Multicultural Office opens window to diversity

Multicultural Office Director Donald Glenn views diversity as a stained glass window made up of different sizes, colors and textures, each piece beautiful in its individuality — but they’re magnificent when they come together. It’s that message of unity that the University is embracing in its approach to diversity — the Christian worldview of bringing people together. For GCU, that means unifying its diverse student body of approximately 90 countries and cultures so that everyone has a seat at the table.
