Theatre graduates enjoy one final trip across stage

It has been a long and memorable ride for theatre students Brand Brown, Christian Bradford and Tyler Sorrels in their time at GCU, and it wrapped up Monday afternoon as the trio walked across the Commencement stage. The active members of the College of Fine Arts and Production community used the milestone as an opportunity to look back on the memories they’ve made at GCU while also looking ahead to the future. “Sometimes it feels like you’re not in the right place in life and you haven’t been making the right choices, but it’s very refreshing to know that here I felt surrounded by a group of people who cared about me and that were willing to make mistakes and help each other grow,” Brown said.

‘Comedy of Errors’ kicks off outdoor theatre season

A new season of Ethington Theatre plays begins Wednesday night with Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors.” In addition to debuting on the new outdoor stage, the production will showcase some original musical pieces adapted written by instructor Michael Kary and composed by theatre student Ryan Ardelt.

Students give huge props to Kennedy Center trip

This year’s Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival showcased how much talent the College of Fine Arts and Production’s Theater Department really has. Three GCU students made it to the semifinals in their respective regional categories, and two took second place. Some students even came home with scholarships and job interviews. “We had teachers as well as students from all kinds of other schools stop us a number of times and tell us how impressed they were with our students,” COFAP Assistant Dean William Symington said.
