The excellence of GCU’s Cheer team is no secret on campus, but it’s becoming well known across the country. The team won the Open Coed Game Day division of the Universal Cheer Association National Championships in Florida last weekend. It was the second consecutive national title for the team, and coach Keegan Hubbard said all stems from the electric game day environment the team helps create in GCU Arena.

The GCU Cheer team made history in Florida on Wednesday, winning its division in the Universal Cheerleading Association College Nationals. It was the first national championship for a GCU Cheer team known for its energy and high-flying stunts at GCU sporting events. “I think this is a great benchmark of excellence of how GCU is always on the rise. Even through a pandemic, we are making huge strides,” said first-year coach Keegan Hubbard.
