Ethington Theatre Scene Shop builds props for film

Ethington Theatre’s walls reverberated with movie magic the past few weeks as students and faculty created props for the Boylan sisters’ movie, “Identity Crisis,” while it was being filmed on campus. From portable dressing rooms and prop walls to the cloning machine used by the main character in the film, there is no shortage of GCU talent set to grace the screen. “The opportunity for college students to get involved with a Hollywood and national-level film is not something that comes up every day, to say the least,” said COFAP Assistant Dean of Theatre and Dance and “Identity Crisis” Art Director William Symington.

Technical Director creating big goals, tiny house

Carolyn “Carrie” Hurst is playing an important role in bringing theatre performances back inside Ethington Theatre, and she’s also undertaking an interesting personal project: She is creating a tiny house. The Technical Director and the Master Electrician has a background in scenic and lighting design and hopes to be an example to young girls in theatre. “That’s why I want to work for a university. I want to get younger students to realize, especially females, that this is a career path,” she said.
