GCU ROTC cadets commissioned as Army officers

Isaac Duh Nei Lian immigrated to the United States from Burma when he was just 11 years old and is now headed for infantry training as an officer in the Army. He was among nine cadets appointed to lead enlisted personnel as second lieutenants during the University’s Army ROTC Thunder Battalion Commissioning Ceremony on Friday. “This is my privilege to give back to the country,” he said.

GCU ROTC commissions 11 to second lieutenants

It was easy, waking at the crack of dawn to lug a heavy pack for miles. But the physical effort and leadership training paid off when 11 GCU ROTC cadets became second lieutenants at the GCU Army ROTC commissioning ceremony on Thursday morning at GCU Hotel. Bethlehem Schwab was among them, and she’s in a long line of military members in her family and the third to carry a heavy pack at GCU ROTC. “Yes, the military is a huge duty, but I’m excited to serve and give back,” she said.
