Grand Canyon Uiversity professional writing students Analeah Taylor, Kenneth O’Banion, Trinity Hassan and Sielle Neal participated in an internship with nonprofit Honoring America’s Veterans, promoting the Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Arizona State Capitol on Dec. 9.

The students worked with professor Cynthia Weaver to write blogpost articles for the organization’s website and create social media posts for Instagram and Facebook to promote the annual event.

Hassan also interviewed Arizona State Senator Ken Bennett, who was instrumental in getting the gun barrels from the USS Arizona and USS Missouri to create the World War II Memorial at Wesley Bolin Plaza. Neal wrote an article about Pearl Harbor survivor and veteran Ed Miklavcic, and the students joined them at the event.

Taylor and O’Banion took photos of the Run to the Guns motorcycle procession from American Legion Post #138 and the commemorative biplane flyover.

College of Humanities and Social Sciences Assistant Dean Dr. Heidi Boldway also participated in the event, posting colors with the POW/MIA/KIA Honor Guard.
