More than 220 students contributed to a paper chain that’s now hanging in the ground floor hallway at the College of Education as part of a national campaign “Spread the Word to End the Word.” Students from GCU’s Best Buddies club coordinated the campus effort around the pledge campaign, which is designed to raise awareness “about the hurtfulness of the R-word,” according to the website r-word.org. Best Buddies focuses on friendship and self-development programs for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
