Slideshow: GCU Peoria Office's 'Lunch at the Oscars'

The folks from the Peoria office put a new twist on employee appreciation at Grand Canyon University, hosting "A Lunch at the Oscars" on Thursday for members of the Campus 6 team headed by Reggie Alfonso.

The groups of enrollment counselors, academic counselors and financial aid counselors got the red-carpet treatment at a luncheon in the MIT Conference Room at Peoria. The event was complete with Oscars decorations and awards, sparkling cider champagne, roughly $5,000 worth of donated raffle prizes and a speech from GCU's CEO and president, Brian Mueller.

In true "Oscars form," co-host Elizabeth Gibson made three wardrobe changes during the event, award recipient Tiffany Mack threatened to drag on her acceptance speech until the Oscars music cut her off, and video segments showed the best of GCU.

It was part glitzy, part cheesy and all good fun.

But mostly, it was about recognizing employee contributions.

"The people make the difference and today we are going to recognize those people," co-host Caleb Clausing said.

Award recipients are below, as well as a photo slideshow of the event:

Most Positive: Dallace Leota; Most Engaging Laugh: Joshua Cheek; Most Motivating: Corinne Williams; Best Sense of Humor: Sherrell Nickson-Smith; Best Decorated Cube: Kimmy Erickson-Moen; Best GCU Spirit: Tiffany Mack; Team MVPs: Caleb Clausing, Matt Esteban, Mike Trueblood, Ardith Brostowicz, Daniel Delgado, Chris Koehn and Christal Abron; Best Manager: Kolby Jones; Campus 6 VIP: Ryan Korey; Best Region Executive Director: Reggie Alfonso.
