Saturday ROTC rifle exercise at Little Canyon Park is just a drill

GCU News Bureau

Grand Canyon University students and staff can expect to see some military style drills Saturday, though the ROTC event is just part of routine training and the rifles are props.

The training exercises are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., primarily at Little Canyon Park, which borders the Hegel, Canyon, Ocotillo and Saguaro residence halls on the north side of campus. The city park is located on the south side of Missouri Avenue between 31st and 35th avenues.

Nearly 60 GCU ROTC cadets will be training with rubber M-16 rifles to simulate battleground maneuvers in the park and near the ROTC/Fine Arts area of Saguaro Hall.

Bible Verse

(The people of God stood and worshiped Him, saying:) "You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship You." (Nehemiah 9:6)
