Grand Canyon University students talked GPA, MCAT and GRE scores at the recent Pre-Grad Health Fair on the Promenade. The event included more than five dozen college representatives from around the country who touted their schools' graduate school opportunities in nursing, osteopathy, pharmacy, biological studies, occupational therapy, athletic training, dentistry, medicine and physical therapy.

The fair was organized by the Career IMPACT Center in partnership with the College of Science, Engineering and Technology.

GCU student Dena Steggs said, “The Pre-Health Grad School Fair that was held on campus was a truly enlightening experience. With representatives from several schools, as well as outreach programs to get involved with, there were several opportunities to discuss options. I was able to connect with several wonderful people from different programs around the globe. Each representative that I spoke with was very helpful and eager to share what they have to offer. While this is my first journey to physician assistant, I found this experience to be very positive and a wealth of information for what to expect, along with what is expected of an ideal candidate."

Jackie Mendez, associate director of recruiting at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., said of the fair, “This visit was the best event of the week,” adding how everyone she spoke with “identified with service and wanting to help others in the field of medicine.”

And according to Katy Hunsberger, associate director of admissions at Rocky Vista University in Parker, Colo., “Of the four colleges we visited last week, GCU was by far the most accommodating, and your students came with a bit of knowledge about the individual programs. They also had great questions.”
