The cover story for the November issue of GCU Magazine takes a look at the rich entrepreneurial ecosystem that the Colangelo College of Business has developed since it was named after sports business icon Jerry Colangelo a decade ago.
Other stories feature Chewk's Cookies, The Black Sheep and Juanderful Tacos, three businesses by GCU alumni right here in the neighborhood; the university's culture of service, which University Pastor Dr. Tim Griffin calls "the greatest story never told"; alumna Alexis Ruiz, a pediatric nurse who's also a world champion archer; and men's basketball coach Bryce Drew, who inspires students on and off the court.
There are also stories on GCU's latest initiative to encourage students with a heart for ministry to become bivocational, how the College of Natural Sciences is innovating to put science courses online, and how the College of Engineering and Technology is encouraging women to pursue STEM careers.
Some places to find the magazine on campus: the Student Union, Thunderground, the Student Life Building, Lope Shop, GCU Arena, Colangelo College of Business, Learning Lounge (Building 66) and Building 71 (lobby).
