New Program Connects Students with Off Campus Jobs

By Keleigh Norman

Career Services has integrated a new, student-friendly resource to develop relationships with local companies in the valley by showing where GCU students have worked, or currently work off-campus.

The Job Location and Development Program (JLD) uses past and present relationships companies hold with students. This will help Career Services create more opportunities for students to work off campus.

“This program is the beginning of a relationship we want to develop to help students find jobs before and after they graduate,” says Director of Career Services Jacqueline Smith.

Students who have, or currently work off campus may visit the Career Services office in the Student Union to complete a simple form listing the contact information for companies they have worked for, or are currently looking for.

Career Services will review each of the forms and use them to search for new companies willing to hire current GCU students.

The JLD is versatile in that it aids a wide array of students regardless of seniority or majors. The program finds full-time, part-time, temporary and permanent employment in various fields.

Career Services has received feedback from diverse companies willing to solicit different types of work from students. Titan Alarm and Charles Schwab visited the campus recently. Career Services will bring Federated Insurance to the campus October 8, and Brown and Brown Insurance on November 3.
