The Grand Canyon University men's basketball opened Western Athletic Conference play with an 82-72 victory over Utah Valley on Saturday night at GCU Arena. Joshua Braun returned from an injury-related absence of almost six weeks and scored 31 points. He also tied the GCU Division I record by making seven 3-pointers.
