It was a long, difficult, unpredictable journey, but approximately 28,000 students completed their degrees at Grand Canyon University in 2020-21, a year when a virus tried to stop everything, including graduation, but couldn't.
Not only did GCU celebrate its spring 2021 graduates this week, but it also embraced 2020 grads who didn't get the chance to walk the Commencement stage and invited them to do so now.
They received their degrees in four Commencement ceremonies Monday and Tuesday.
"We graduated college in the midst of a pandemic, so I’m pretty sure we can do anything," said one of the student speakers, Worship Arts/Graphic Design graduate Elaina Marchegger.
Here are a few social media posts that brought their achievements home.
