Grand Canyon University is launching its first graduating class of Ingram Honors College students into the world this week, with 938 graduates in the 2025-26 academic year representing the breadth of the university's programs.

Alexandra Dixon has been an honors student all four years of college. She was involved with GRAD CAP, Ingram Honors College’s graduate school comprehensive advising program, and has gone on several mission trips to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, with Well Child International through the Global Studies program.

She was also the president of HOSA - Future Health Professionals. After graduating from GCU, Dixon will begin her studies at the School of Medicine at Loma Linda University to pursue her dream of becoming a physician.

“I think one of the biggest reasons I got into medical school is because of the opportunities that I had in the Honors College,” Dixon said. “I didn’t know what went into applying for medical school, but the Honors Symposium with Dr. Bre (Naegeli, Ingram Honors College dean) prepared me super early on to make the most out of college."

Newton interned at the Goldwater Institute as a Ronald Reagan Fellow, and after graduation, she will intern at U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs' office in Washington, D.C.

“Ingram Honors College has really challenged me in taking harder courses, pursuing opportunities and learning from different people,” Newton said. “It’s really helped me develop professionally – resumes, cover letters, interview skills, very practical things like that.

"I was raised in a family that prioritized work ethic and academic excellence. Being able to further pursue that and push myself these two years in Honors has been really good.”

You know that it was not with perishable things, such as silver or gold, that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (1 Peter 1:18-19)
