Hospitality students receive Landau Hospitality Scholarship

Preparing a dinner for a large group can be challenging, but it’s a top honor if you’re a member of GCU’s Hospitality Management Club.

Abbie Ludwig, Heidi Swenson and Jurny Summers earned that distinction as recipients of the David R. Landau Hospitality Scholarship.

The trio will be in charge of planning and preparing a dinner for GCU hospitality students at the annual Hospitality Scholarship Dinner and Silent Auction from 6-9 p.m. April 15 at Cañón 49 Grill.

They’ve also earned $2,500 scholarships.

The scholarships were named in memory of a revered GCU professor who helped start the hospitality program before his passing in 2019.

Students submitted essays as part of their scholarship application.

Ludwig, a sophomore, has experience in catering and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management with a minor in marketing and advertising. Swenson is scheduled to graduate in December with a degree in hospitality management. She served in the mentorship program for the Women in Business Club. Summers has hotel experience and is scheduled to graduate this spring with a bachelor’s degree in business administration/management.

Bible Verse

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride, beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. (Revelation 21:2-4)
