Chapter members also spoke at the Arizona HOSA Fall Leadership Conference.

GCU's HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) students have been busy this semester, capping the fall off with volunteer work for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual Light the Night Walk and also attending the Arizona HOSA Fall Leadership Conference.

The University's HOSA chapter attended the leadership conference on Thursday, Nov. 14, in downtown Phoenix. More than 3,000 AzHOSA members and advisors attended the gathering.

Students not only educated hundreds of students at the conference but enjoyed some time at Majerle's Sports Grill.

Student leaders from GCU held multiple workshops, titled HOSA After High School. The sessions focused on student success in college and provided an insight into the University’s collegiate chapter, which is the largest collegiate HOSA chapter in the world and the largest club on campus. Approximately 400 workshop attendees learned and practiced multiple clinical skills used by healthcare professionals to assess the reflexes of patients.

In addition to educating hundreds of students, GCU HOSA members dined at Majerle’s Sports Grill, owned by men's basketball coach Dan Majerle. The HOSA student leaders were delighted with their experience in mentoring and sharing their knowledge with younger students.

Chapter members helped set up and execute the Light the Night Walk in Phoenix.

Just a couple of days later, on Nov. 16, chapter members volunteered at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual Light the Night Walk in Phoenix. Twenty-seven members dedicated their day to helping set up and execute the event. In the morning, students put together lanterns, set up stations and organized registration materials. In the afternoon, members greeted, checked-in and directed participants. HOSA members also took part in the ceremonies to illuminate the night in support of cancer patients and their families.
