The size of the GCU chapter has grown dramatically in the last three years, and a record number of representatives from the University attended the convention.

Joining Naegeli were board members Anna Cofrancesco, Gabriela Marrama, Kara Morrow, Sarah Johnson and Zachary Merhavy as well as online student Anthony Barlow.

The convention brings together Alpha Chi students and sponsors from around the United States for academic and creative student presentations, chapter-strengthening sessions, networking, scholarships and awards, and to hear from inspirational speakers.

Several GCU students presented at the convention:

  • Marrama, an advertising and public relations major and Honors College student, present one of her advertising campaigns during the research and design showcase.
  • Merhavy, an Honors biology student and the AzHOSA president, presented on “Antimicrobial Activity for Selected Plants from Southwest USA” during the research forum.
  • Morrow, an Honors history major, presented “The Impact of American Women on the Homefront During World War II: Equal Need and Compatibility of Workforce and Traditional Roles,” during the timed student presentations.

Founded in 1922, Alpha Chi is an induction-based national honors society for upperclassmen and graduate students recognized as being in the top 10 percent of their class by college. This rank includes both online and traditional undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students.

Alpha Chi is supported by the GCU Honors College but is open to all GCU traditional and online students who meet the induction criteria. GCU was one of 300 chapters represented at the conference.
