GCU’s Real-Time Operations Center won four awards Monday at the National Real Time Crime Center Association ceremony.
GCU received awards for national standards, training and development. Mason Mills, training director for the association and the university's Real-Time Operations Center manager, received one of two supervisor of the year awards.
RTOC operators also staffed a booth at the association's convention, alongside members of GCU’s Emergency Preparedness team at the Phoenix Convention Center.
GCU hosted 56 representatives Sunday from numerous police agencies around the country, as well as technology vendors from the likes of Verkada, Skydio, Axon and Flock Safety. The group toured GCU’s Real-Time Operations Center and examined how GCU operates and supports the campus and community.
GCU Police Chief Mark Heimall spoke Tuesday on a panel, “Police Leaders: Building an RTCC That Matters: Leadership, Operations and Operational Value.” Wyatt Layne and Joseph Rodriguez were scheduled to represent GCU on a panel today discussing “Professional Staff in Policing,” moderated by Mills.
