This is getting to be a hoop habit.

For the second consecutive year, Grand Canyon University has won the women’s championship of the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association tournament in Columbus, Ohio.

GCU went 5-0 in the tournament, which took place at The Ohio State University on April 20-22, defeating Florida, Columbus State, Angelo State and then Columbus State in the semifinals and Georgia Southern in the final.

Hannah Frederick, a nursing major set to graduate this week, was named Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year. Teammate Saylor Siegner also was named to the all-tournament team.

The GCU team is coached by Fabian Coker, who graduated from the University last spring.

Bible Verse

"At just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates hHs own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:6-8)
