Students and faculty from GCU’s College of Natural Sciences presented their research at the 2026 American Scientific Affiliation Annual Meeting over the summer at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, joining a community of scientists from across the world.
Presentations included: “A Physicist’s Perspective on the Triune God: Roadmaps to Wisdom for Science and Life” by GCU professor Dr. Alan Tai; “Traditional Medicine, Neuroscience, and Faith: A Cameroon-Centered Evidence Map of Indigenous African Knowledge for Global Health and Creation Care,” by Cerena Bilong and microbiology/biology professor Dr. Daisy Savarirajan; “The Christian Ethics Surrounding Genetic Editing for Gene Therapies and Regenerative Cosmetics,” by Joshua Boadu and biology professor Dr. Ramesh Velupillaimani; “Environmental Stewardship and Water Quality: Assessing E.coli Levels in the Gila River,” by Matehya Grecula and environmental science professor Dr. Berenise Charlton; and “Euthanasia: How Safe Are Our Safeguards?” by Jessica Neamtu and Dr. Daisy Savarirajan.
The conference theme was "Science-Faith Synergy: Glorifying God and Serving the World" (inspired by 1 Peter 4:10).
The research presentations explored the intersections of scientific discovery, Christian faith, ethics and stewardship, sparking meaningful conversations and engaging questions among attendees, Savarirajan said.
"The experience was both professionally enriching and spiritually encouraging, deepening the students’ desire to pursue science and medicine while faithfully living out their Christian calling," Savarirajan added. "As one student reflected, the conference left her 'recharged, inspired and excited,' reinforcing her conviction that 'we do need more Christians in the field.'”
The American Scientific Affiliation is an international fellowship and professional society of Christians working in various scientific and engineering disciplines. Founded in 1941, its mission is to integrate, interpret, and communicate scientific discoveries in a way that harmonizes with Christian theology and scripture.
