What’s cool, goes on your car and is purple all over?
If you guessed a Grand Canyon University license plate, you’d be right!
The plates were made available this week. These cheerful embellishments to your vehicle can be purchased by clicking on this Arizona Department of Transportation website.
The fee for the specialized plate is $25 annually, of which $17 goes toward academic scholarships such as the Students Inspiring Students program, said Christel Mosby, executive vice president of marketing for GCU. A personalized plate is an additional $25 per year.
“These license plates are an effective and spirited way to mobilize the GCU brand and generate even greater awareness of the University — locally, statewide and beyond Arizona (on road trips),” Mosby said.
The idea behind the plate is to give the estimated 50,000 GCU students and alumni from Arizona as well as employees and fans the chance to show their love of all things Lopes.
“We want our GCU community to connect with one another and support the growth of our university, wherever they may go. We consider it to be a fun opportunity … to unify in showing their love for GCU and spreading pride throughout Lope Country and beyond,” Mosby said.
The license plate has a purple background. The “Grand Canyon University” and “GCU” logos, with a running Lope, are in white.
“The style of the logos will invoke a high-energy, collegiate vibe. The license plate also is designed for the brand to be easily recognizable,” Mosby said.
