The spotlight shined brightly on Grand Canyon University students at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' Student Production Awards for the Rocky Mountain Region. The event was held Saturday at Chateau Luxe in Phoenix.
College of Arts and Media alumnus Ridger Palma’s “Robbie Le Bobbie” original comedy film won the College Fiction Short Form category, and alumna Megan Eddy’s “Canyon Creative Sizzle Reel 2026” won the College Promotion Video category.

Palma's film follows two robbers coincidentally breaking into the same home and forming an unexpected friendship while trying to steal a diamond necklace. It was named the GCU 2025 Film Festival Best of Fest and Best Comedy winner.
Eddy’s sizzle reel highlights the work of Canyon Creative, the university's student-driven, faculty-led creative agency offering advertising, graphic design, web design, video production and more.
The College of Arts and Media also received two nominations in the College Newscast category for its student-run “Lopes Lately” weekly news broadcast hosted by the GCU Future Broadcasters Club.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences awards weren't the only honors the college received this week.
In the Arizona Game Cup, a statewide video game development competition for students in Arizona sponsored by Unity, CAM and GCU’s College of Engineering and Technology students won the top prize for creating and designing an original video game in the 72-hour challenge.
Those students were among seven universities and colleges in the competition, including Arizona State University, the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, the University of Advancing Technology, Pima Community College and Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
