GCU News Bureau

Grand Canyon University has been chosen as a finalist for the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce’s 26th annual Impact Awards.

The awards, which celebrate the impact outstanding companies have on the Valley’s business community and economy, are given in four categories: Community Champion, Economic Driver, Entrepreneurial Excellence and Response to Adversity. Two recipients are chosen for each category.

GCU was among eight finalists chosen for large businesses with more than 250 employees. It was nominated in both the Community Champion and Economic Driver categories.

Eight more companies were named finalists for small/medium businesses (250 employees or fewer).

Other finalists in the large business category are American Express, Arizona Diamondbacks, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Chas Roberts Air Conditioning, Goodwill of Central Arizona, Mountainside Fitness and Sundt Construction.

The 2013 Impact Business of the Year for large companies will be selected from these finalists and announced at a luncheon on May 14 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa.
