GCU adds spirit to mascot Spirit's birthday

Though he hasn’t celebrated a birthday of his own yet, this 'lil Lope couldn’t have been more popular with GCU Dance team members. Avery is the son of Jose Moreno, Chief Marketing Officer for Fiesta Bowl Charities, a GCU alum and Colangelo College of Business Sports Business Advisory Board member.

Thunder brought the whole GCU spirit family, including Cheer and Dance team members, along with the Thundering Heard Pep Band to celebrate Fiesta Bowl Charities mascot Spirit’s birthday at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix.

The GCU Spirit Team recently helped Spirit, the Fiesta Bowl Charities mascot, celebrate his birthday.

Thunder, Cheer and Dance team members, as well as other mascot friends and more than 100 Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix flag footballers were all there.

Said Jose Moreno Chief Marketing Officer for Fiesta Bowl Charities, who also happens to be a GCU alum and current Colangelo College of Business Sports Business Advisory Board member, “Having Grand Canyon University represented at Spirit’s Birthday is an amazing display of community support, and the energy that Thunder and his crew brings is pivotal to the success of the event. To showcase to these kids who live only a few miles from the University what college could be like is an important part of promoting higher education to our youth. As a GCU Alumni it makes me proud to see the work the university is doing in the Phoenix community.”

Bible Verse

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. (Hebrews 11:13)
