From AI to scooters, magazine focuses on how GCU keeps moving forward

Science and health care chatbot Mira (left) and math chatbot Isaac (right) are just two ways GCU is using artificial intelligence to help students.

The August issue of GCU Magazine, which arrives today, plugs into artificial intelligence and how the university aims to become a leader in AI-driven learning. Colleges from across the university have been leveraging AI to find the best ways to teach students using the technology, which one faculty member called “the greatest productivity and creative tool known to man.”

Not only have AI chatbots, like Mira and Isaac (above), been generated to tutor students, but faculty have created quizzes and brainstormed ideas using AI. Faculty also have advanced the use and understanding of AI at 74 conferences and trainings since 2021.

Other stories feature the campus’ love of skateboards and scooters, the 50th anniversary of Ethington Theatre, and the historic year for GCU Athletics in 2023-24. GCU Magazine also touched base with almost a dozen former student body leaders to find out what they’re doing now. And as this is the university’s 75th anniversary, we also featured two alumni-turned-employees who marveled at what has happened here – how a small college became the biggest Christian university in the country.
