What is your most notable accomplishment in your field, and why was it important?
While I have published several articles and given several presentations, I am most proud of the relationships I have formed and the role I have been blessed to play in my students' lives. As a part of the beginning of the engineering programs at GCU, I got to be a part of welcoming the first class, their learning journey all the way through their walk across the stage on graduation day and into their careers.
What are you most passionate about in your field and why?
My passion lies in sharing my field with students. I want to be a part of developing the next generation of engineers. Technology is rapidly changing, and the direction we take it is crucial. It is our responsibility to be good stewards of those developments and help our students to learn not only the technical skills but also how to direct the advancements is an honor.
What do you like to do for fun in your spare time?
I love to read and spend time outside, even in the summer. I find reading very relaxing; the opportunity to escape into a book is exciting. I read all types of books. Being outside in nature is relaxing. I like to hike and swim and sometimes just sit outside and read. The sun and heat energizes me (no so much the humidity, though).
What is something interesting about you that most people don't know?
While most people know that I was born in Arkansas, I didn’t exactly grow up there. When I was 10, my parents moved us (for what was my first move). I went to 10 different schools in eight years from fifth grade through graduation from high school. Absent those first 10 years, the longest time I have lived in one place has been the past 5 1/2 years since I bought my house here.
