The Paul Houston Literary Collection dedication on Tuesday drew education officials from around the metro Phoenix area and Arizona to the GCU Library. Dr. Glen Harvey, CEO of WestEd, which bolstered the collection with about 450 print and digital titles on education research, policy and practice, called GCU a "hub in the community" for equity and learning. Harvey praised the University for making the materials available not only to faculty and students, but to its more than 1,700 participant schools, free of charge. “WestEd believes very strongly that all children, despite the circumstances they’re born into should have the ability to be successful.” Dr. Paul D. Houston, former executive director of the American Association of School Administrators, delighted the audience with stories of his non-bookish beginnings, his  global travels, from Antarctica to Vietnam, and his teachers who planted the seeds of learning. Regarding GCU’s “Find Your Purpose” campus signs, he said, “That’s about a perfect thought to plant in your students’ heads. Finding your purpose is to understand who you are and what you can become.”

Bible Verse

(Moses addressed Israel, reminding them of God's deliverance of them from Egypt, and His commands given to them:) "You saw with your own eyes the great trials, the miraculous signs and wonders, the mighty hand and outstretched arm, with which the Lord your God brought you out (from bondage and delivered you.). The Lord your God will do the same to all the peoples you now fear." (Deuteronomy 7:19)
