Julie Blair, Assistant Director of Academic Programs/Assistant Professor, and Dusty Sanchez, Clinical Practice Program Manager from the College of Education at Grand Canyon University, recently took part in the 2021 Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability, and Reform Center (CEEDAR) National Convening, presenting their work with the Arizona CEEDAR State Team initiatives.
Blair presented alongside state CEEDAR teams from Arizona and Missouri to share how both states are addressing teacher shortages. "Working Together to Meet Workforce Needs: Addressing Shortages in AZ and MS" focused on the role of partnerships in engaging in strategies to impact the shortage of special education teachers.
The Arizona team shared its piloted missions with Teach Camp, a statewide induction support for beginning special education teachers and the Teacher Empowerment Project (TEP) and how partnerships were critical in both projects.
Sanchez presented alongside the CEEDAR teams from Arizona and Connecticut on "Partnerships in Clinical Practice."
Both the Arizona and Connecticut teams offered examples of their capacity building development programs exemplars, strategies and tools, and how this informed action plans for their respective states post-pandemic goals for enhanced clinical practice opportunities. Also shared were creative solutions, including successes, lessons learned and barriers encountered during the pandemic.
