The second of the four-weekend Fostering Thriving Schools and Students Summit Series will be Friday and Saturday in at Grand Canyon University’s business complex at 27th Avenue and Camelback Road.
The series for K12 educators is part of GCU Canyon Center for Character Education’s mission to promote cultures that encourage human and societal flourishing through virtue formation. The series, which is for participants to exchange ideas and learn how to implement character education, is supported by a grant from the Kern Family Foundation
“Character education is needed more than ever,” said Emily Farkas, CCCE program director.
The summit will feature six speakers from across the country who are experts in character education.
Speakers include:
Dr. Kristen Pelser, chief programming officer for CharacterPlus and a consultant with the Center for Character and Citizenship at the University of Missouri, St. Louis; Nicole Diehl, director of programming at CharacterPlus; Dr. Emilie Johnson, professor of education at Lindenwood University; Amberly Neese, author, speaker and comedian, and adjunct professor at GCU; Julie Frugo, CEO and founding member of Premier Chart School in St. Louis; and Dr. Suzanne Bright, head of principal development at Premier Charter School in St. Louis.
