Arizona Governor Jan Brewer proclaimed November 15-19 as International Education Week. GCU’s Center for International Education and the International Student Club have planned a week of events to celebrate our students from around the world
GCU has more than 130 international students from more than 40 countries currently studying on campus.
Activities planned at GCU for the week:
Monday – The cafeteria will be serving international foods, decorated by flags and symbols from various countries.
Thursday – Stop by the south side of the Student Union from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where you can have your name written in a foreign language and meet some of GCU’s international students.
Friday – Celebrate India/Nepal Night at 7 p.m. in the Canyon Café. Snacks and desserts from India and Nepal will be served. The event will feature sights and sounds (video presentation/music), games, dances, henna tattoos, bindi and other cultural experiences.
International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to promote and recognize the importance of international education. A website dedicated to International Education Week can be found at http://iew.state.gov.
