Six Career Services team members represented Grand Canyon University at the 2023 Arizona Statewide Career Services Conference. The event was held Wednesday and Thursday at Phoenix’s Gateway Community College.
Presenters included:
Savannah Herrman and Nancy Juarez, who spoke on “Leveraging Project Management Software for Career Services Events.” They demonstrated ways GCU’s Career Services uses its project management tool to plan and execute career events. Using this software, they showed how the team collaborates across colleges, internal departments and external groups to ensure event needs and feedback are being collected and incorporated to meet preferences and the hiring needs for their unique populations.
Arriel Pilapil and Ruben Arangure’s topic was “Empowering Engaging Employers Through Education: A Career Services Approach.” The job market and workforce are changing day by day. Recruitment strategies that worked in favor of employers just a few short years ago may no longer work today. The goal of the talk was to demonstrate tools and strategies Career Services teams can use to educate their employer relationships to better engage with their students, improve their recruitment strategies and find successful candidates.
Maria Santana Leon and Chelsea Charbonneau presented “Partnering Toward Students’ Career Successes.” The talk covered training and development strategies employed by GCU Career Services in collaboration with colleges and other departments to support students with career readiness and graduate school preparation.
