Career Week is one of the busiest times of the year for the GCU Career Services Office. Each year, Career Services hosts a week, this year from March 2-5, that focuses on helping students prepare for and develop the skills necessary for finding employment.

The special week kicks off with a Chapel service Monday, followed by an etiquette dinner Tuesday, mock interviews and resumé reviews Wednesday and the biggest event of all – the job/internship fair Thursday.

Career Services will teach students job-search skills throughout the week so that they have the opportunity to put those tools into practice at the job/internship fair. Nearly 100 employers, including Boeing, USAA, U-Haul and Enterprise, are expected to attend to recruit GCU’s alumni and students in various capacities, from part-time positions to internships to full-time opportunities. The fair, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Prescott Promenade in front of the Student Union, also is open to the community.

“All alumni and students are encouraged and invited to take part in the job/internship fair,” said Jacqueline Smith, director of career services. “Whether you’re looking for your first full-time job or a career change, please come to campus for an opportunity to speak with these employers actively seeking applicants. If you are unable to make the event, please contact Career Services for a list of employers attending.”

If you would like help preparing for the job/internship fair, Career Services offers resumé reviews and mock interviews to alumni and students, which are free to you for life. For assistance, email a Microsoft Word document of your resumé to [email protected] with your contact information and the type of assistance you are seeking.

Be sure to dress professionally, bring multiple copies of your resumé and prepare to make some great impressions at the annual GCU Career Services job/internship fair.

GCU Career Services is here for you.  Stop by the office in Camelback Hall or call 602-639-6606 to connect. Or visit www.gcu.edu/careerservices to utilize any of our online tools to identify your career path, build your resumé, research career options or apply to current job postings.

Bible Verse

And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastens everyone He accepts as His son." (Hebrews 12:5)
