Career Services Student Worker of the Month: Andrew Boozer

Have you ever wondered what “servant leadership” looks like? Take one look at Andrew Boozer, and you’ll see such leadership in action. As a digital marketing campaign manager, Boozer exemplifies Grand Canyon University’s mission, vision and values.

The business management student also is a worship leader at his church and aspires to be in executive leadership at a company in order to balance a good-paying career with family and travel. Boozer’s favorite part about his major are the personal stories told by the professors and the life lessons he has learned from Dr. Moronke Oke, Kenneth Hein and Taylor Carr in particular.

Beyond his responsibilities as a student and worship leader, Boozer excels in his student worker position. “It’s nice to be given more responsibility than some others, and the knowledge I’ve learned – there have been a lot of good things I can use in the future,” he said.

Above all, he values the servant leadership focus of GCU and its business management program as a whole.

Erin Kerger, Boozer’s hiring manager, said Boozer seems to have a good understanding of servant leadership.

“I have never met such an upstanding and philanthropic young individual as Andrew,” Kerger said. “He always puts others first and cares deeply about the mission and vision of this University. He demonstrates daily that service, effective and honest communication, critical thinking and positive leadership are what matters most in his academic and professional life.”

Boozer attributes part of his success to the encouragement and support of his girlfriend, Jenee Bragg. Boozer plans to continue to exemplify GCU’s mission, vision, values and servant leadership wherever he goes.

Bible Verse

Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside and said to them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn Him to death and will turn Him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day He will be raised to life!" (Matthew 20:17-19)
