Canyon Professional Development, part of GCU’s K12 Educational Development, hosted 80 officials from Christian schools in a June 4 webinar, “Scenario Planning in Times of Uncertainty.”
Drawing on experience in its current walk through challenges because of COVID-19, a team from GCU helped lead a discussion on issues that may affect schools for years to come.
Daniel Egeler, Vice President of Strategic Educational Alliances, offered a framework for planning for schools that are influenced by the phase of the crisis, which he described in metaphors: blizzard (big storm that is now largely passed), winter (will continue for a while so we must continue to adapt) and ice age (this is going to be with us so long it might lead to permanent changes).
In a poll of participants, the largest concerns for their schools were safety and health (68%), finances (62%) and education delivery (58%).
