Business honor society inducts members

Membership in Delta Mu Delta is reserved for the “best of the best,” said Grand Canyon University business professor Dr. Moronke Oke.

To be invited to join the international business honor society, students must have at least 24 Colangelo College of Business credits, be a junior or senior in the top 20% of their program and be in good standing with the University.

Eighty-five students qualified recently for induction into GCU’s Eta Chi chapter of the organization.

Graduating seniors Lauren Huling, Daniel Griffin and Arisbeth Fernandez Guzman (from left) were honored at the Eta Chi chapter of Delta Mu Delta's recent induction ceremony.

Featured speakers included Oke, the chapter advisor; Dr. Merri Pedersen, co-advisor; Dr. Henry Cooper, supporting faculty; and Dr. Allison Mason, interim Dean of the Colangelo College of Business.

Keynote speaker Breana Lee, a recent master’s program graduate and Spring 2022 Commencement speaker, reminded students of the value of consistency and rigidity in one’s character, especially as students leave campus and venture into the world.

Breana Lee, seen at Spring Commencement, was the keynote speaker at the Eta Chi induction ceremony.

The ceremony also served as a farewell to graduating seniors who served as chapter leaders. Those seniors included president Lauren Huling, vice president Daniel Griffin and secretary/treasurer Arisbeth Fernandez Guzman. Huling plans to continue her work at Matthew’s Real Estate as a public relations associate. Griffin will travel before settling at a global consulting firm for cybersecurity risk. And Hernandez Guzman will pursue her master’s at GCU.

The Delta Mu Delta Eta Chi chapter welcomed a new team of leaders. Catherine DeLaHunt, who served as communications coordinator, is taking over the role of president. Kyle Reimer will serve as vice president, and Deja Mitchell will be secretary/treasurer.

Several events are planned for the spring, including volunteering for Habitat for Humanity on Feb. 4, the Kevin McClean Research Colloquium on Feb. 23 and the spring networking event on March 8.
