Antelope Intros: Stevie Kamp, Ross Kirby and Marty Smith

Antelope Intros is a recurring GCU Today feature that introduces some of our new employees to the people around them in a way that is both fun and informative. Employees are eligible to be featured in the month following their orientation.

STEVIE KAMP

Job title:  Education Funding Counselor

Job location: Kaibab Building

You were a member of GCU's women's basketball team for two years. What attracted you to GCU?  Originally I came to GCU because it was close to home and had a great basketball team.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet?  For fun I usually hang out with my little sister and watch football.

What are you passionate about? My family and the DALLAS COWBOYS.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit?  One of the most interesting places in the Valley I enjoy visiting I would have to say is the Science Museum!

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:  I grew up on a farm and rode horses competitively for 16 years.

What are you most proud of?  How far I have come and what I have accomplished in such a short amount of time.

___

ROSS KIRBY

Job title:  Academic Counselor

Job location: Tempe

What attracted you to GCU? My auntie used to work for GCU years ago and told me about how it was a Christian university; that is what first attracted me.  What also attracted me to GCU was the values and beliefs that the University upholds. I was raised in the church, so it was good to have an employer that has the same beliefs. 'Lopes Up!

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I like to exercise, go to sporting events and travel (mainly fly, I don’t like long car rides).

What are you passionate about? My passions are cooking and sports.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit?  I like to visit the art galleries and museums around the Valley. I also enjoy the different food and culture festivals that the Valley has to offer. Can’t forget going to D-Backs and Suns games!

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:  I was born with 12 fingers. No, I only have 10 now, haha.

What are you most proud of?  I am most proud to have graduated college and bought my first home.

___

MARTY SMITH

Job title:  Qualifying Center Specialist

Job location: Annex I

What attracted you to GCU?  The fact it is a Christian organization and is helping people become successful in their life goals.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? Hang out with my wife and baby (Marlen and Mason Smith). We go to Westgate  for family fun nights on Saturdays.

What are you passionate about? God, family and friends. Without those three, life would be empty!

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit?  NASCAR (PIR), Arizona Cardinals (UOP Stadium) or Oregano’s for just good old local food.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:  I am from Albuquerque, New Mexico, not Mexico.

What are you most proud of?  My wife and family and our newest addition -- my son Mason Smith!
