Antelope Intros is a recurring GCU Today feature that introduces some of our new employees to the people around them in a way that is fun and informative. Employees are eligible to be featured in the month following their orientation.

Scott Bowen and his family

SCOTT BOWEN

Job title: University counselor

Job location: 27th Avenue

What attracted you to GCU? I try to put Jesus at the center of everything I do. I love that GCU is a Christian university. Becoming a university counselor is very self-fulfilling because I love to help other people, so finding a job that combines Christ and helping people through education was a no-brainer!

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I’m a huge fan of the NBA and Utah Jazz. I love everything basketball, but especially watching my Jazz win on the big screen. I am in the zone when I am in front of the TV cheering on my team.

What are you passionate about? People. I’m so excited to be a part of something at GCU that is not only self-fulfilling but also allows me to impact the lives of my students.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit?  I am relatively new to the Valley, but I do enjoy going to any professional sports events. Now that I’m a Lope, I look forward to going to some of the basketball games this season.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: My family has a history of learning Arabic in school. Most people do not know that I speak Arabic.

What are you most proud of? My children. They are the center of everything I do and work for.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I enjoy playing and wrestling with my two boys (ages 6 and 4). Also, we are frequent visitors to Disneyland and SeaWorld. Disney freaks over here. I also play in a men’s flag football league.

What are you passionate about? My family, Disney and sports.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? Football games, basketball games and Wild Life World Zoo.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I own and operate a hot dog food truck when I have the time. It’s called “The Dogfather.”

What are you most proud of? My two kids, Jaxon and Brody. They are my world.

Bible Verse

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. (Hebrews 11:13)
