Antelope Intros: Molly Schulze and Jermaine Fairfax

Antelope Intros is a recurring GCU Today feature that introduces some of our new employees to the people around them in a way that is fun and informative. Employees are eligible to be featured in the month following their orientation.

MOLLY SCHULZE

Job title: Enrollment counselor, College of Theology

Job location: Peoria

What attracted you to GCU? I was a student at GCU and loved my enrollment counselor. I want to be able to help people through school the way my counselor helped me. I love the energy at GCU. It’s such a positive environment.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I really like to travel and try new things. I don’t like trying new food most of the time, but I will try any new activity or drink. I want to sky-dive, hike the Grand Canyon, do Flagstaff Extreme and go on a cruise.

What are you passionate about? I’m passionate about animals. I love all animals. If I could have farm of animals for a living, I would. Animals just make my heart happy. I love people second. I want to help people be the best they can be. I am going to get my master’s degree in counseling and want to be able to help as many people as I can. I eventually want to work in a hospital with people who have mental health issues.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? I love hiking. I enjoy going to comedy shows or out with friends for dinner. I enjoy going to a local park with my husband and my friends and playing kickball or dodgeball — and I’m very competitive. I love going to the lake. I had a friend who had jet skis and we would go out there on a Sunday and ride around all day. It was a blast! Now I’m going to be taking an interest in GCU basketball.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I am an open book and don’t have any secrets. People who know me know just about everything about me. I am totally in love with my husband. He is my Prince Charming, knight in shining armor, other half and best friend. I am a goofball. I am laid-back, and not much bothers me. I can talk to almost anyone. I am from the Midwest (Omaha — go Huskers). Oh! I hate chocolate.

What are you most proud of? Everything I have been able to accomplish in the last few years. I didn’t have a goal for myself four years ago, and now I have my bachelor’s in psychology from GCU with no student loans. I am proud of my family and my friends. I have so much pride in being my husband’s wife. I am proud that I have been able to complete two Tough Mudders in 2013. I’m proud to be a GCU alumni and employee.

JERMAINE FAIRFAX

Job title: University development representative

Job location: Orlando

What attracted you to GCU? “The Color Purple” is my favorite movie, so it was a match made in heaven.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? Play with Barbie dolls and play dress-up with my 6-year old daughter, Jayde. No need to find her — she finds me, even when I’m trying to hide from her. Since we live in Orlando, my wife, Heather, and I like to take our three children and play the role of tourists a lot and hit up a bunch of Orlando attractions frequently: Disney World, Universal Studios, mystery dinner theaters, etc.

What are you passionate about? God and family, in that order.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit? While I was in the Valley, I visited Sedona. Since I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon, those mountains and rock formations were the most amazing I’d ever seen. I also enjoyed the wildlife at my hotel — there were plenty of bunny rabbits chilling by the pool.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: I’m the best singer in the world … who doesn’t have a recording contract. The only singing background I have is in my church choir growing up, but I was president of the choir.

What are you most proud of? My wife, because dealing with me on a daily can be an arduous and impossible task. She navigates those choppy waters like a champ.

Bible Verse

"All things have been committed to Me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:27-28)
