Antelope Intros: Megan Boughton, Kenny Byers and Aundrea Brown

Antelope Intros is a recurring GCU Today feature that introduces some of our new employees to the people around them in a way that is fun and informative. Employees are eligible to be featured in the month following their orientation.

MEGAN BOUGHTON

Job title:  Online Enrollment Counselor (COE)

Job location: Tempe

What attracted you to GCU?  Word-of-mouth recommendations from current employees were the strongest driving force for me to apply. It’s not so much about what GCU offers students and staff or the benefits involved that made up my mind. Rather, the personal feedback from these individuals regarding the values system and professional environment is what attracted me.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? For fun I like to go to my cabin in Munds Park (near Flagstaff), riding our quads or side-by-sides. When at home I like to spend time with my large extended family or stay in with my hubby-to-be.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about helping others connect the dots they need to reach their goals.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit?  My favorite place is my house … when not at work, I prefer to be there or with my family at their houses. Another favorite is the First Fridays walk in Phoenix or taking in the events at Tempe Town Lake.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know: My fiancé and I like unconventional pets. I have half a dozen ferrets, some Fire Belly Toads, and tropical fish … they are our babies!

What are you most proud of?  Finishing my B.S. degree in two years … doubling up is not easy, but in the end it paid off!

KENNY BYERS

Job title:  Public Safety Officer

Job location: Main campus

What attracted you to GCU?  The growth, both of the University and the opportunity for personal growth.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? Sport shooting and hunting. Seasonally I spend time out in the Arizona wilderness and locally at shooting ranges indoor and out.

What are you passionate about? Keeping others protected, even from themselves.  Most people go about their lives not recognizing the dangers around them.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit?  Spring training and a place called T-bones -- it's a restaurant on 19th Avenue right on the side of South Mountain. Check it out! The view is amazing.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:  I'm former law enforcement and I currently have three foster children. Hopefully, we will be adopting two of them within the next six months, with a little prayer.

What are you most proud of?  Raising my foster children and to be blessed enough for my wife to stay home with our new baby and the children.

AUNDREA BROWN

Job title: Enrollment Advisor

Job location: Tempe

What attracted you to GCU?  My friends often commented about its culture -- that was attractive to me.

What do you do for fun and where do you find that outlet? I figured out a long time ago that writing, especially poetry, was easy and enjoyable for me. When I need a release, I still find poetry and journaling therapeutic.

What are you passionate about? I love encouraging those around me. I think it is important to remain hopeful and joyful no matter the situation. Sometimes that is easier said than done, and we all need a little boost sometimes.

What are your favorite places or events in the Valley that you like to visit?  I enjoy live music festivals that are put on throughout the year, as well opportunities to volunteer in the community.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:  I lived in Japan for two and a half years as a military dependent.

What are you most proud of?  I am proud because in spite of it all … “I’m still here, I’m still standing.”

Bible Verse

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. (Hebrews 11:13)
